SLEAFORD STRIDERS JUNIOR HANDICAP SERIES 2007

 

In a change of format due to the growing members of Junior competitors the race would be a mass start so we could judge the speed of the runners.We also needed to run in a safe traffic free area so Holdingham was to be the venue for our 2007 series.

The track will prove to be challenging at every race due to the varying weather conditions.

All runners to wear their allocated numbers at every race.

Well done everyone for your efforts tonight.We had 35 handicapped runners and 10 first timers. The first timers will be handicapped at the next meet.The weather of the days before caused some very muddy tracks. I'm sure you all enjoyed running through the deep puddles. Sorry Mums and Dads.First Strider in was Florence with an excellent time of 27mins 16 secs.Next in and first male runner was James with a time of 29 mins 44 secs.The quickest runner of the night was Jack King with a superb time of 21 mins 02 secs.Thanks again to all who helped tonight.See you in 2 weeks.

Well done everyone for all the effort you put into tonights run. The puddles were even deeper than last time and trainers were dirtier aswell.Hope you all washed them and haven't left them for your parents to clean! Tonight we has 28 runners with the addition of 4 new runners .Florence Ireland once again showed grit and determination by being the first Junior home in a time of 31 mins 7 secs.. Patrick James flew the flag for the boys being their first runner home in an actual time of 30 mins 57 secs.Jack King made light work of tonights race as he was fastest runner of the night only 45 secs slower than his last race.

 
Wednesday 4th July 2007

Well the weather was to blame for the cancellation of the 4th race of the season. The course was too water logged, so an alternative route was measured on the cycle path nearby.As the start time grew nearer the clouds became darker and the risk of lightening was too high. The safety of all our runners and marshalls are paramount so we decided to call the race off altogether.Weather permitting the race will take place next Wednesday 11th July at 7pm. The race will be a predictor race where you will have to predict what time you will run the race to the nearest second.Write your predicted time on the back of your race number before you arrive at the race.Please remember your number .The nearest male and female runner to their predicted time will recieve a prize.So put your thinking caps on.

24 Junior Striders took part in our delayed 4th Handicap race of the series.The track was dry but, some still manage to find a puddle or two to run through.(you know who you are!!!).Some parents thought Summer had finally arrived as they came equipped with thier deck chairs.

This race was probably the most exciting as everyone seem to be racing each other to the finish line whatever their ability.

The nearest female and newest member of the club was Louise Dawson who predicted a time of 35 mins.Her actual time was 35mins 01 secs, how close was that?

The nearest male to his predicted time was Jack King who predicted his time to be 21mins 30 secs. His actual time was 21mins 28secs.Another fantastic prediction.

Well Done to both Striders.

First finisher of the night was James Ward with the fastest runner of the night being Ellie Boyson with a time of 21mins 22secs.

Unfortunately numbers were down tonight due to a large number of Striders taking part in end of year school productions.

However 17 Striders took part in this predominately male race.

First Strider over the line tonight was Gabe Lester with fastest runner was Jack King with a time of 21mins 23 secs. Well Done everyone.

Last run of the series on Wed 5th Sept will be at the earlier time of 6.30pm.Results will be announced afterwards at The Jolly Scotchman.

Well done everyone for all your efforts. This race was probably the closest it has been with runners finishing in quick succession.It must've been because they knew I was buying the drinks later.Picking up maximum points was James Ward closely followed by 1st Female Florence Ireland.
