This Traditional Event has been held for as long as the Club has been formed, just the venue has changed due to the new Sleaford By-pass being built. It is always held on the Sunday between Christmas and New Year over an approx 6 mile course that takes in Roads, Footpaths and Public Footpaths the basis is the same as the Senior Handicap Series but definately burns off the Xmas excess. The traditional mince pies and hot soup afterwards is very welcome as is the social discussions. Prizes are awarded to the first three finishes and therefore the event is open to Club members only, however we do encourage/allow other runners to compete as a guest and the handicapper has the ultimate decision as to who can run. |

The Sunday between Christmas and New Year is the traditional date of the Striders winter handicap. This year, for the first time, they set out from the Football club and ran out along the river before returning through Kirkby le Thorpe. The new 6 mile course was a welcome mix of road and trail running. Eighteen adult members took part probably the best turn out for several years. The overall winner was Graham Potter with Paul Hardy second and Karl Aubrey third.
Many thanks go to Michelle, Maria and Julie for the timing and marshalling so that others could enjoy this event. Refreshments at the end were provided by Sue and Jennie at the football club.
